Resilience after Natural Disaster

Panel Presentation & Discussion

Resilience is the ability to recover quickly from difficulties. Trauma and natural disaster can be handled in ways that promote personal strengths and assets. These resources help protect individuals, families, workplace settings, schools and community from the potential negative effects of these stressors.

You invited to a panel presentation provided by Burke Community leaders, including the Burke Mayor, Fire Department Chief, County Government, Hospital and Non-profit/mental health representatives.

Open to helping professionals and the public. Providing education and insights on the impacts of trauma and natural disaster. Key strategies and resources for coping and helping will be provided. Free, no charge and refreshments will be served.

Co-coordinated by Kris Miner, Circle Space Services & Mistie Sachtjen, Community Memorial Hospital.

The panelist will provide community updates and information regarding the recent natural disaster. Panel moderator Kris Miner, will offer the concepts of Restorative Justice and the experience of working with trauma survivors and Wisconsin Tornado survivors.

 

Circle Space Services, a local nonprofit providing Restorative Justice. Kris is also completing the requirements to be a South Dakota Licensed Professional Counselor. Prairie Hills Counseling is located in Burke, South Dakota.
