About Kris

Kris Miner is currently working towards her SD Counseling License, she is currently employed with The Right Path, and operating Prairie Hills Counseling as a satellite office. 

Kris received her Masters Degree in Counseling from South Dakota State University in 1994. She began her professional career as an in-home family therapist. She worked in human services, both in child protection and juvenile justice. She was the executive director for a Restorative Justice non-profit for 10 years. During that time she developed and implemented several Restorative Justice Peacemaking Circle programs. She also developed an expertise for working with severe crime and violence.

Kris provided training and consultation on Restorative Justice and continued to help individuals with Restorative Justice services. She was a contractor with the Minnesota Department of Corrections, providing Restorative Justice to inmates and crime victims requesting support.

Kris Miner-Schweigert

In 2015 Kris returned to her hometown, she is a 1986 graduate of Gregory High School. She married Brian Schweigert in April of 2016 and together they purchased Miner Ranch. They added horses, dogs, sheep and a donkey.  Brian passed away in July of 2019.

In 2017 Kris began to explore options for working off the ranch. She quickly resumed her Restorative Justice work with a year-long contract to consult with Tribal Youth Programs. She had considered and reconsidered returning to the work of a counselor. She committed to this in August of 2018 and began to study to retake her National Counselor Exam, which she passed in November 2018.

Kris is now working under supervision to complete the requirements of reinstating her SD Licensed Professional Counselor credential. While living out-of-state, she maintained her National Board Certified Counselor certificate.
